Antón breaks collarbone

Igor Antón has crashed out of Liège-Bastogne-Liège and broken his left collarbone.

The 29-year-old reportedly crashed in the neutralized zone and will now be forced into a break from racing. According to DS in Liège, Gorka Gerrikagoitia, is was an avoidable fall.

"It was a most stupid crash", the normally soft-spoken ex-pro told www.biciciclismo.com. "He got tangled  up in something and hit the tarmac. He broke his collarbone. A great shame".

Antón was planning on taking part in the upcoming Tour de Romandie, but will now be forced to give that race a miss naturally.

Euskaltel is thus left with seven riders in the ongoing la Doyenne. Follow the race live here
